Ernest Program
The Ernest Program provides opportunities for students to extend their learning, contribute to their community and pursue interests beyond the classroom. Through academic extension, leadership, service and creative pursuits, students are encouraged to grow in confidence, curiosity and connection.
Named in honour of Bishop Ernest Burgmann, a lifelong advocate for learning and social justice, the Ernest Program supports students to explore interests, challenge themselves and engage meaningfully with the wider community. The program includes a broad range of academic, creative, leadership and service-focused opportunities across Junior, Middle and Senior School.
Activities are designed to complement classroom learning while encouraging collaboration, critical thinking, creativity and contribution. Students may participate in competitions, clubs, leadership experiences, publications and community initiatives that support both personal growth and connection with others. The Ernest Program reflects Burgmann’s commitment to developing thoughtful, engaged and well-rounded young people.
