Defence Mentoring

For Defence families, connection and continuity are especially important during times of transition and change. Burgmann’s Defence School Mentor program supports students and families as they navigate the unique experiences of Defence life and schooling.

Burgmann Anglican School has a strong Defence community across both the Valley and Forde campuses. The Defence School Mentor (DSM) program supports children of Australian Defence Force (ADF) members and their families, particularly during periods of relocation, transition and parental absence.

Funded through the Department of Defence and Defence Community Organisation, the program helps students settle into school life, build relationships and maintain wellbeing throughout their educational journey. Defence School Mentors work across the School community to support students socially, emotionally and academically while helping families connect with the wider Burgmann community.

The program recognises the unique experiences of Defence families and aims to create a strong sense of belonging, stability and support for students at every stage of learning.

See It For Yourself

The best way to understand a school is to experience it in person. Join a small group tour led by our Principal, Leonie Harwood, to see learning in action, meet our community and get a feel for what makes Burgmann distinctive.
