Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Burgmann Anglican School

In 2018, we celebrate our 20th birthday. The foundation stone for Burgmann Anglican School was laid in November 1998 and the school opened in 1999 with 28 students. Today we are a vibrant community of more than 1500 students over two campuses. Over the past two decades our vision has remained fixed on providing a strong academic program supported by excellent learning and teaching programs with a focus on student wellbeing, modern infrastructure and plentiful greenspace. Together, we continue to grow and shape a school that reflects Grace, Commitment and Wisdom and allows our community to flourish beyond the classroom.

Thank you for considering Burgmann. We understand you want to provide an educational experience for your children to help them to reach beyond what they believe is possible. We know you also want them to experience an environment that is caring and nurturing; one that will support your values and work with you as your child grows and develops.

Our school seeks to provide an innovative and engaging curriculum through a range of activities both within and beyond the classroom. Aspirational expectations aim to challenge students to unlock their abilities and capabilities within a supportive educational culture. We don’t try to predict what your child will become; we do try to understand who they are and guide them to discover all the potential they possess.

As an Anglican School in the Canberra and Goulburn Diocese, the school has a covenant with Gungahlin Anglican Church. The Grace Chapel is a shared facility between the school and the parish. Notwithstanding this formal relationship, the Christian basis and focus for the school remains important. Each student attends Chapel and explores aspects of Christianity throughout their education. Our service program aims to complement our Christian foundations by providing opportunities for students to support others locally and globally through a range of fundraising and other activities.

Learning happens best in a community. Ultimately, it is positive relationships which are imperative to our school; relationships between students, staff, parents, grandparents, members of parish, and friends. We believe that a strong partnership provides the best possible environment and quality of care for all students. The development of interpersonal relationships is central to our ethos and we encourage our students, parents, and teachers to connect collaboratively at each stage of the learning journey. Providing a supportive, caring, quality educational culture within a Christian context continues to be an objective as reflected in our school motto 'grace commitment wisdom'.
