Service Learning

Meaningful contribution begins with connection, curiosity and understanding. Service Learning at Burgmann Anglican School encourages students to engage thoughtfully with their communities while applying their learning in practical, reflective and purposeful ways.

Service Learning at Burgmann Anglican School is an educational approach that combines learning, service and reflection to help students connect their studies with authentic community experiences. Across all stages of schooling, students are encouraged to engage thoughtfully with real-world issues while developing the knowledge, skills and dispositions needed to contribute positively to society.

Through direct service, advocacy, community contribution and reflective practice, students deepen their understanding of themselves, others and the communities around them. Service Learning supports the development of empathy, critical thinking, collaboration and civic responsibility while providing meaningful opportunities for students to apply classroom learning in practical and purposeful ways.

At Burgmann, Service Learning is embedded as part of a holistic educational journey that encourages students to become compassionate, engaged and thoughtful contributors within an interconnected world.

We acknowledge the Ngunnawal peoples as the traditional keepers on the land on which we gather. We recognise and honour their wisdom and education traditions. We commit ourselves to actively working towards reconciliation, stepping forward with grace, commitment and wisdom on this journey.
