The Burgmann Buddy Program: Leadership, Connection and Care in Action
The Burgmann Buddy Program is strengthening the way students at Burgmann Anglican School learn leadership, practise care and grow in character.
In the Junior and Senior Schools, Year 10 students are paired with Year 3 buddies to engage in the Grow Your Mind program, exploring values such as respect, forgiveness and resilience. In Middle School, Year 7 students work with children in Kindergarten to Year 2 through creative tasks and shared storytelling.
“This program is different,” said Year 10 student Chloe. “You’re mentoring someone else and helping them grow.”
Deputy Head of Junior School Brendon Pye describes the program as “nurturing young people and helping them understand that life is a shared journey.”
As it continues to evolve, the Buddy Program strengthens our whole-school culture of care and connection, reminding students that every person belongs and every relationship matters.
