Burgmann’s Mock Trial program brings learning to life for Senior School students and forms part of our Ernest Program, named after Bishop Ernest Burgmann, an advocate for both academics and social justice.

Over the semester, students in Years 10 to 12 explored civil and criminal law, developing advocacy, reasoning and teamwork skills as they prepared and presented realistic court cases.

The Grand Final was held this week at the University of Canberra’s Moot Court, where two teams demonstrated outstanding skill and professionalism before guest judge and Burgmann alumna Tori Hunt (Class of 2022).

This year’s program also welcomed alumni Erin Duncombe, Rhea Gupta and Rachel Ponnampalam (Class of 2022), who supported the competition as judges in earlier rounds, along with Oliver Byrne, ANU Law student.

It was a proud example of how Burgmann students, past and present, share in meaningful learning experiences that build confidence, understanding and connection.

Congratulations to Team 4 on their Grand Final win, and to Team 3 on an impressive second place.
