The pool was the place to be this week for our Junior School students.

Year 1 and 2 have begun their five week swimming program at Gungahlin Leisure Centre. Across the coming weeks they will build water confidence, practise key swimming skills and become more comfortable and capable in the water.

Students in Years 3 to 5 also took part in the Junior School Swimming Carnival, a highlight on the sporting calendar. The day combines competitive races with participation and water confidence activities so every student can get involved.

Alongside freestyle and backstroke races, the program included events such as noodle races and tennis ball scrambles, while relays added to the house atmosphere around the pool.

One of the highlights of the day is the BAS Gift, where the eight fastest swimmers race with a handicapped start, producing a close and exciting finish.

From developing confidence in the water to taking part in the carnival atmosphere, these experiences are an important part of Junior School life.
