Congratulations to our Year 11 and 12 students who achieved outstanding results at the ACT Titration Stakes competition at The Australian National University, hosted by the Royal Australian Chemical Institute.
Competing against 37 teams from high schools and colleges across the Canberra region, our students demonstrated impressive precision, patience and analytical skill in a demanding practical chemistry competition.
We congratulate Ryan N, Tahani and Jovita on achieving 4th place in the ACT, with Amish, Kiru and Dinara placing 10th, and Krishna, Lian and Wit placing 16th.
Senior School Head of Science Kathryn Black described the competition as “a test of accuracy, persistence and patience, as well as scientific skill”, with students completing six titrations over 90 minutes to determine the unknown concentration of an acid.
Titrations is also offered as a co-curricular opportunity at Burgmann, providing students with the chance to extend their learning through hands-on scientific investigation and advanced experimental analysis beyond the classroom.
These results reflect the depth of academic engagement and commitment our students bring to STEM learning and co-curricular opportunities.
Congratulations to all students involved on their focus, teamwork and commitment throughout the competition.
