Burgmann Anglican School alumna Vanessa Vongsouthi (Class of 2019) has been named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list in the Industry, Manufacturing & Energy category.

The annual list recognises young entrepreneurs, innovators and leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region who are making a significant impact in their fields.

Vanessa is Research Founder and Head of Bioengineering at Australian biotechnology company Samsara Eco. The company has developed enzyme technology capable of breaking down plastics and textiles into their original building blocks, creating opportunities for materials to be recycled and remade without loss of quality.

The technology originated from research Vanessa undertook during her PhD studies at the Australian National University and has since attracted global attention for its potential to address one of the world's most pressing environmental challenges.

Forbes recognised Vanessa's contribution to advancing innovative recycling solutions through her leadership and research at Samsara Eco, which continues to work with industry partners to scale the technology and support a more circular future.

Vanessa's inclusion in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list is a remarkable achievement and reflects the impact she is making through science, innovation and entrepreneurship.

We congratulate Vanessa on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to following her continued success.
