Parents & Friends Community

We believe that friendship, respect, and participation are central to a positive learning environment. When your child joins Burgmann so do you. We welcome your entire family into our community.

We exist because our community, parents just like you, wanted a school like Burgmann Anglican School. Many of our parents, carers, and friends volunteer their time to help with different activities and events around the school. Some get involved by reading in the classroom or donating goods for the annual Anglicare appeal. Others take on a more formal role through the Parents and Friends Committee or make their contribution by participating in the Professional Connections Program.

No matter how you wish to be involved there will be something for you, from the cooking a BBQ at the Fair to working in the Canteen to helping with the Musical or assisting with co-curricular sporting activities – we welcome all types of participation.

Volunteering

All volunteers at Burgmann Anglican School must have current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration. You may apply for a WWVP check through Access Canberra. The school contact for the application process is Lyndall Muller, phone number 6255 7700 or email Lyndall.Muller@burgmann.act.edu.au

When you have received your WWVP card, please read the Burgmann Anglican School Volunteers Code of Conduct and complete the Volunteer Declaration. The completed Volunteer Declaration and your WWVP card must be presented at the Valley or Forde Front Office prior to commencing any volunteering activities.

Please note that you will not be able to engage in any volunteer activities until you have completed this process. Any questions about volunteering at Burgmann Anglican School can be sent to office@burgmann.act.edu.au

Parents and Friends Committee

The P&F members are a dedicated group of parents who volunteer their time and talents to run events and activities which foster a community who encourage, support, and care for each other.

Each year P&F members along with many supporters from the parent body assist in a wide variety of tasks from the large and very public events such as the Fair to the smaller yet equally important functions, such as:

  • Welcoming new parents and students at orientation days, morning teas, year level gatherings and many other friend raising events.
  • Providing food and beverage sales and assisting with preparation and clean up for events like sports day and ACT Sports Association days.
  • Volunteering time to help out with the Middle School Disco.
  • Supporting the annual Family Portrait (Photography) fundraiser.
  • Facilitating the Entertainment Book sales.

The monies raised through P&F are used to support the purchase of additional leisure, educational and teaching resources for the School that would otherwise not be funded through the School’s capital budget.

Meetings

Meetings are held twice per term at 7:00pm held in the Resource Centre on Valley Campus. All current parents are welcome to attend.
