Bishop Ernest Burgmann

Last Wednesday the Senior Choir attended the 50th Anniversary Service commemorating Bishop Burgmann at the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture. The service celebrated 50 years of legacy to the former Bishop of Canberra and Goulburn, Ernest Burgmann, after whom the school was named. Bishop Burgmann was known as the meddlesome priest, the red Bishop and generally an advocate for underprivileged people.

The service was led by Reverend Dr Jane Foulcher and our Senior Choir sang magnificently, prompting many glowing comments from those in attendance. It was an honour to be involved in this special service and it was a delight for our students to be addressed personally by Bishop George Browning, who was instrumental in the commencement of Burgmann Anglican School.

I am grateful to our Director of Music, Mrs Sandra Taylor, for her commitment to the students and dedication to lead them to excellence in this forum.
