It was with great excitement, from students and staff, that from Monday this week our new Senior School building, M Block, was ready for classes. M Block or Meeting Place has been named for the many opportunities for students to gather both inside and outside of this new facility.
On the ground floor a large open area has been designed for use by year groups, house groups or other large gatherings. The extensive steps outside the building will also enable large groups to assemble readily. On the ground floor there is also a small group classroom, kitchenette, bathrooms and staff work room, and on the first floor 3 generous classrooms. M Block complements our existing facilities and provides quality facilities for our senior students.
This building is constructed in ‘the Burgmann manner’ – functional yet aesthetically pleasing. Feedback from staff and students has been very positive for these new learning and teaching spaces.
I am very grateful for the staff and consultants who worked so conscientiously to complete this facility on time and budget. The modular construction of our new building ensured reduced building costs and enabled the landscaping and external works to be completed in time for student use. I particularly wish to thank KL Modular Systems, Built Constructions and Cox Architects alongside Mr Joel Anderson and other staff who ensured the building was completed to such a high standard.
We are planning the Opening Ceremony for later this year and have invited Bishop Stuart Robinson to officially open and dedicate the building. I look forward to sharing this special event with the Burgmann community.
