Looking Forward

Senior School Information Night
On Wednesday evening the Senior School held the Year 9/10 2018 Information Night and Expo and I was delighted to meet many Year 8 students and their families. I would like to thank Senior School staff for presenting their subjects with such passion and enthusiasm so that the students have a snapshot of each elective available.  Also in attendance were Senior School student leaders and some current Year 9 and 10 students who assisted on the evening. Once again they represented the Senior School admirably and I am grateful for their willingness to assist students and families at this event.

Head of Ministry
It is with some sadness, yet great excitement for Alex Abecina and his family, that I advise that Alex will be taking leave from his position at Burgmann from the end of this term until the end of 2020 to commence a doctorate in Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Cambridge. Alex has been awarded two scholarships towards these studies. I am sure that you will join me in wishing Alex and Jen and their children all the best for this wonderful opportunity.

I am delighted that Michael Dasey will replace Alex for 2018 in a slightly different role. Michael will undertake the role of School Chaplain and will also teach Year 9 and 10 Christian Living.

Congratulations to another Burgmann alumni on a wonderful achievement. Madison Hegarty has been cast in a production of High Fidelity, set to open in November at the Hays Theatre Company in Sydney. Many families may remember Madison from our inaugural school musical All Shook Up in 2012. Madison studied at NIDA in Sydney, completing a Diploma of Musical Theatre in 2015. This week our Early Childhood students have been entertained by Madison as she is also one of the performers in Super Dooper, an educational musical that celebrates Book Week 2017. Congratulations Madison on your remarkable achievements.
