First Camp, Big Milestone for Year 3

Aug 18, 2026 4:41 PM

Our Year 3 students recently headed to Warrambui for their first overnight school camp, marking an exciting milestone in their Junior School experience.

Across two busy days, students took part in Bush Art, Bush Walk, Frisbee Golf, Initiatives and Puzzle Mania, as well as a PNG Culture Exchange and an evening campfire.

For many students, a first overnight camp brings the excitement of being away with friends alongside the challenge of spending a night away from home. It provided plenty of opportunities to try something new, build confidence, work together and discover what they could achieve outside their usual routines.

There was also a lovely connection to learning that had taken place earlier in the year.

As part of The Resilience League, our Year 4 students had been challenged to create Camp Staircases to help Year 3 prepare for this very experience. Using the Staircase Strategy, they considered the small steps younger students could take to gradually build their confidence ahead of their first night away at school camp.

After all that preparation, it was Year 3’s turn to take that final step.

Congratulations to our Year 3 students on completing their first overnight school camp.
