Jarrett Anthoney named 2026 NSW/ACT Young Achiever of the Year

Burgmann Anglican School is proud to congratulate alumnus and current staff member Jarrett Anthoney, who received two major honours at the 2026 7NEWS NSW/ACT Young Achiever Awards.

Jarrett was awarded the Ministry of Health Achievement in Health Award before being named the overall NSW/ACT Young Achiever of the Year.

The awards recognise Jarrett’s exceptional leadership and advocacy through Dainere’s Rainbow, continuing the legacy of his younger sister and fellow Burgmann student, Dainere, who died from brain cancer at 15 years of age.

For more than a decade, Jarrett and the Anthoney family have turned profound loss into sustained action. Dainere’s Rainbow has raised more than $800,000 for childhood brain cancer research, helped secure Canberra’s first specialised paediatric palliative care nurse and continues to advocate for better support for children, siblings and families affected by childhood brain cancer.

Dainere’s legacy also remains closely connected to Burgmann. Each year, our Year 12 students support Dainere’s Rainbow as their primary charity, with their fundraising culminating in the Colour Run at the conclusion of the Cross Country Carnival.

This achievement belongs to Jarrett, his family and the enduring legacy of Dainere. We are fortunate to have Jarrett as part of our staff and alumni community and delighted to see his sustained contribution recognised at this level.
