Position:  Senior School Teacher (English)

 

Tenure:   Permanent

Status:   Full time

Faculty:  Senior School, English Faculty

Line management:   This position will be responsible to the Head of Senior School through the English Faculty Leader.

 

Duties

  • Plan and deliver an English curriculum to Senior School students from Years 9-12 allowing for different learning styles and academic needs;
  • Prepare course materials;
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Senior School Team;
  • Participate in curriculum development ;
  • Participate in professional development activities;
  • Liaise with students and parents;
  • Participate in the school’s co-curricular program;
  • Other duties as directed.

Selection Criteria

Essential

Applicants must have:

  • a relevant degree as well as a Diploma of Teaching or Education
  • a passion for effective teaching and learning and for the subject of English;
  • an interest in working with adolescents; 
  • the ability to differentiate the teaching program to addresses students’ learning styles and varied academic needs;
  • a willingness to participate in curriculum development and professional development;

Desirable

Applicants should have:

  • expertise or interest in the emotional, social and physical development of adolescents;
  • experience in the meaningful integration of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) into the curriculum;
  • experience in teaching students with special learning needs;
  • an area of interest that would contribute to the school’s cocurricular program.

Salary, Terms and Conditions

The successful applicant will be employed under the Teachers' Agreement 2006-2010 for The Burgmann Anglican School. Salary will be determined according to qualifications and years of experience.
