Status: Part Time (2.30pm - 6.15pm every school day plus additional time for admin/PD as required)

Line of Management: The Director of After School Care will be responsible to the Principal
Burgmann Anglican School is seeking to employ suitably qualified staff to run its After School Care Program. The program is licenced for 55 children from 3-year-old Preschool to Year 6 and operates from 3.00pm to 6.00pm each day during term time only.
Director/Coordinator After School Care
Duties
- plan and deliver a suitable program of after school activities for children aged between three and 12 years of age;
- supervise a homework program for students in Year 3 to Year 6;
- coordinate and manage a small team of staff;
- organise staffing rosters;
- manage after school care student enrolments;
- liaise with families;
- work cooperatively with other members of the school staff, in particular the Central Resources Centre staff;
- be abreast of ACT Children’s Services licencing requirements for ACT School Aged Care and Centre Based Care;
- perform administrative tasks associated with the program including Child Care Rebate receipting.
Selection Criteria
Essential
Applicants must:
- understand the needs of children and families;
- understand health and hygiene practices which take into account current community standards;
- be able to support the ethos of Burgmann Anglican School;
- be able to support and implement the School’s Behavioural Management Policies;
- work cooperatively with other members of the school staff;
- effectively lead a team of people including casual and junior staff;
- be reliable, trustworthy and a person of good character.
The Director must possess one of the following:
a) a Degree or Diploma in Education or;
b) a Diploma in Community Services (Children’s Services) or equivalent or;
c) a Diploma in Youth or Recreational Studies or;
d) have completed the third year of a Bachelor of Education and be eligible for an internship.
The Director must also possess a current First Aid Certificate (if the preferred applicant does not currently have a current certificate the school will support his/her training).
