Uniform Requirements
The correct uniform is to be worn at all times, both at school and in public. It is always to be neat and tidy with shirts tucked in, boys socks pulled up and shoes polished. If a child happens to be wearing incorrect items of uniform without notification from the parents, a note may be sent home to remind the family of the school's dress code. If the parents have a concern relating to the uniform they should take it up with the Principal.
- Hair should be tied back if it is longer than shoulder length (with the exception of Year 11 and 12 girls), with an appropriate ribbon or elastic in the school colours (navy blue, bottle green, white). Hair-clips should be plain silver, black or dark green. For Year 11 and 12 girls, hair should not cover the face or pose an occupational health and safety issue.
- Students' hair should be well groomed, neat and clean and a natural hair colour. For boys this means hair should not extend beyond the top of the shirt or blazer collar at the back or the eyebrows at the front. It must not be shorter than 1 cm on the top of the head. Side-burns must not extend below the middle of the ear. Extremes of hairstyles are not appropriate.
- Shoes for both girls and boys are to be a traditional black leather, lace-up shoe (not boots or runners).
- Jewellery should be kept to a minimum. Earrings (sleepers or plain studs) are acceptable in the ear lobes only, and only one per ear. No nail polish or hair glitter, no rings, necklaces or bracelets (unless they are medic-alerts).
- During the first two weeks of Term 2 and Term 4 students may wear either the summer uniform or the winter uniform, but not a combination of the two.
- The school bag is optional, but highly recommended. Bags should be predominantly navy blue in colour.
Please note that Burgmann uniforms (with the exception of shoes) are only available from the school Uniform Shop.
No other outlet has authority to sell our uniforms.
